Helping charities
Three charities have benefited from proceeds raised at performances given by local individuals and groups.
A concert by Jeanius And Whitt — Jean Robinson and Tony Whittaker — including a pie and pea supper, at Rolleston Village Hall, raised £1,330 for Macmillan Nurses.
The Newark-based Argent Theatre staged Tim Firth’s Calendar Girls at the Grove School’s Lilley and Stone site in the town and raised £1,000 for Beaumond House Community Hospice.
The group decided to support the organisation as the show tackled issues around leukaemia.
A dance show, Shake Your Tail Feather, staged by Elaine Varney’s Kids And Co, held at the Palace Theatre, Newark, helped raise £124.86 for Sue’s Place, Newark, from donations of programmes.
