The British comedy, The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel, follows a group of retirees who relocate to an Indian hotel for a life of opulent leisure.

Unfortunately when they get there they realise that reality does not quite match the advertising.

However, they soon fall for the hotel’s faded charms and discover newfound happiness through the people they are with, rather than the luxury they were expecting.

From director John Madden (Shakespeare in Love) The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel (12A) features a stellar British cast including Judi Dench as Evelyn, Bill Nighy as Douglas and Maggie Smith as Muriel.

Others in the cast include Penelope Wilton as Jean, Dev Patel as Sonny, Tom Wilkinson as Graham, Celia Imrie as Madge, Ronald Pickup as Norman and Liza Tarbuck as head nurse Karen.

Written by Ol Parker from the novel by Deborah Moggach, it can be seen at Newark’s Odeon Cinema.
