Blues rock guitarist Chantel McGregor to bring tour to Lowdham Village Hall

A guitar prodigy and singer-songwriter is bringing her blues rock sound on tour.

Chantel McGregor, described as “a musician born with an effortless virtuosity” will play at Lowdham Village Hall on February 1.

Her triumph on guitar has been long-standing. Her education at the Leeds College of Music saw her become the first student in the college’s history to achieve a 100% pass mark, with 18 distinctions. She left with a First Class Honours degree in popular music and a coveted prize, the college’s musician of the year award.

At just 14, major record labels had told her she had a “great voice, but girls don’t play guitar like that” — something she has continued to prove wrong ever since.

She has not appeared in Lowdham since 2014, and now will return to debut some of the tracks from her new studio album on this latest tour.

Previous albums have seen Chantel labelled a “messiah of blues-rock” and she has performed alongside greats such as Joe Bonamassa
