Nottinghamshire-born TV favourite Richard Winsor joins star-studded cast of Nottingham Theatre Royal’s swashbuckling pantomime Peter Pan
TV actor and musical theatre star Richard Winsor is to take over the role of Captain Hook in Nottingham this festive season.
Announced today (November 29), he will be taking over the role from Denise Welch, who will no longer be performing due to ill health.
Richard will be joining TV fashionista Gok Wan, children’s TV favourite Paul Chuckle, and comedy ventriloquist Steve Hewlett in the Theatre Royal’s production of Peter Pan.
In partnership with Crossroads Pantomimes, the theatre’s high-flying family pantomime will open on Saturday, December 7, 2024, and run throughout the festive season until Sunday, January 12, 2025.
Originally from Nottinghamshire, Richard Winsor is best-known for playing Dr Cal Knight in BBC TV’s Casualty, having appeared in over 200 episodes, and has also been seen on screen as Father Francis in Hollyoaks.
He played the lead role of Thomas in StreetDance 3D and was The Swan in Swan Lake 3D. As an accomplished dancer, he has also danced with the Matthew Bourne’s New Adventures company in productions including The Car Man, The Midnight Bell, Edward Scissorhands, Dorian Gray and Play Without Words, while his many theatre credits include a run of Saturday Night Fever at the Peacock Theatre in London’s West End.
Stylist, DJ, broadcaster, cook and author Gok Wan is The Magical Merman, children’s TV favourite Paul Chuckle is Starkey, comedy ventriloquist and BGT Finalist Steve Hewlett is Smee, Kate Stewart is Tinker Bell, Molly Farmer is Wendy and Aiden Carson is Peter Pan, in the sashbuckling stage show.
Audiences can join Peter Pan and the characters they know and love this Christmas in this panto adventure.
