A man who is hoping to get his masters at the Royal College of Art in London next year has his second exhibition at Galerie in Kirkgate, Newark.

Harry Hillier, 28, of Main Street, Norwell, is displaying eight pieces of his surrealist and abstract artwork until April 17.

Harry has always had a passion for art. His uncle, Simon Boudard, is a portrait painter living in Italy and his parents, Sarah and Andrew Nesbitt, have always been interested in artwork.

Harry became interested in painting while a pupil at The Minster School, Southwell. He did a foundation course at Newark and Sherwood College under course leaders Peter and Karen Chesney.

This is when he became interested in observational drawing, in particular portraiture. He spent three years at Norwich School of Art, gaining a degree in painting.

Since then he has been living in Japan, teaching English, but wants to go into teaching art.

Harry said: “My family has always been interested in art and painting. A lot of my work is surrealist but I do do some abstract paintings too, all in acrylics.

“I paint from the imagination. Some can take me a month because I work on them and then rework them until I am happy with them.”

Durign his time at Norwich Harry exhibited in Amsterdam, and had his first exhibition at Galerie four years ago.

He paid tribute to the support of Galerie owner, Gill Jennison.

“She lets artists do what they want so it gives you a chance to try things out without worrying about making a mistake,” he said.

All the paintings are for sale, ranging in price from about £150 to £350.
