The Sooty Show — 75 th Birthday Spectacular set for Newark Palace Theatre stage

The nation’s favourite magic yellow bear has celebrated his 75th birthday — and is heading to town on a celebratory theatre tour.

Sooty, Sweep and Soo — and their right-hand man of 25 years Richard Cadell — will be at Newark Palace Theatre on April 8.

Sooty and the gang will bring their much-loved mix of chaos, mischief and mayhem to the venue.

The trio plan a very special birthday party — but in true Sooty style nothing goes to plan.

Sooty gets messy baking the birthday cake, Soo’s trying to find the perfect party dress, and Sweep’s practising his dance moves.

Richard Cadell said: “We want all the audience to feel like they are guests at a big party. There will be lots of games, audience participation, dances and prizes.

“We have a special guest from Blackpool Tower Circus to add some spectacular skills to the proceedings.”

Butch the bulldog, Ramsbottom the snake, and little cousin Scampi will also be making an appearance, and Sooty will have his brand-new super soaker ready — turbocharged to reach right to the back of the theatre.

It promises buckets of audience participation and gallons of giggles, in a spectacular celebration of the longest-running children’s television show in the world.
