River inspires artwork

An artist who was inspired by walks along the River Trent has put her work on show.

Watercolour painter Jennie Bambury, of College Street, East Bridgford, is displaying her work at the Spotlight Gallery in Newark Town Hall.

A River Journey includes landscapes of various scenes along the river that she sketched and photographed while walking her dog.

She then turned them into watercolour paintings.

Most of her works were produced last year.

Jennie, who has always been an artist, said: “I normally do village scenes.

“The collection is called A River Journey because I see a river like a journey.

“It begins as a small brook and flows into the open sea, and East Bridgford is where it’s in its middle stages.

“When I walk the dog I go at different times of the year and different times of the day and that’s reflected in my works.

“I wanted to show more atmosphere and light on the river and it shows a range of different scenes.

“I put a bit of my own imagination in there as well.”

The artwork, which includes postcards, is for sale.

The exhibition can be seen until October 12.

The gallery is open Mondays to Saturdays from 10.30am to 3.30pm.
