Rehearsals underway for world premiere of Minority Report at Nottingham Playhouse, directed by Max Webster
A stage adaptation of a futuristic thriller is all set for its world premiere at Nottingham Playhouse.
The theatre will host the premiere of David Haig’s adaptation of Philip K. Dick’s Minority Report tomorrow.
The production will then run in Nottingham until Saturday, March 9, after which it will move on to Birmingham and London.
It is a Nottingham Playhouse, Birmingham Rep and Lyric Hammersmith Theatre co-production In Association with Simon Friend Entertainment and by arrangement with Electric Shepherd Productions.
Set in 2050, Minority Report will tell the tale of neuroscientist Dame Julia Anderton, played by Jodie McNee, who is responsible for a revolutionary new scheme to predict crime — but is then accused of pre-murder.
It becomes a race against time to save herself from her own system, leading to questions of justice and the power of choice.
The cast is completed by Nick Fletcher as George, Roseanna Frascona as Ana, Nicholas Rowe as Ralph and Tanvi Virmani as David, while Chrissy Brooke, Xenoa Campbell-Ledgister, Ricardo Castro and Danny Collins will form the ensemble cast.
Minority Report is directed by Tony-nominated Max Webster and promises a bold theatrical experience, with the latest video and special effects brought to the stage by production designer Jon Bausor, video designer Tal Rosner, lighting designer Jessica Hung Han Yun and Composer and sound designer Nicola T. Chang.
Max Webster said: “It's visual, it's surprising, it's political, it's exciting — it's a new version of sci-fi in British theatre.”
