A former head of English at Kesteven and Sleaford High School will sign copies of her new book on Saturday, March 31.

Carole Divall will be at Stray’s Books, Newark, from 10.30am with Napoleonic Lives — an attempt to link some fascinating studies of people who actually fought against Napoleon with the interests of the modern family history researcher.

Each chapter is devoted to one or two people, men and women, detailing their military careers as well as their lives before and after military service.

Her love of military history originates with her grandfather who was a professional soldier in the cavalry so she grew up hearing stories of his soldiering.

Her first book, Redcoats Against Napoleon, was published in 2009 with her second, Inside The Regiment, being published in 2010. Carole’s next book will be out in the autumn.
