Stand-up comedians predict a funny night

A group of local stand-up comedians are hoping to have a crowd in fits of giggles when they perform at The White Hart, Newark, a week today.

Known as Chuckle House, they are Alex Noble, Billy Bamberger, Connor Kelly, Sam Taylor and host John Michael Lowe.

The group host and perform monthly in the pub’s function room, which seats around 30 people.

All five perform — usually crude but never tasteless — and will be joined for the night by guest comedian Stewart Coleman, of Sutton-in-Ashfield, aka Stoney.

Billy, of Balderton, is a cynical cockney applying his youthful opinions on the world. Connor, of Balderton, has a random approach to his iconic comedy routines. Sam, of Colwick, is the dark heart of the group, very loud and rude yet strangely compelling at the same time.

John, of Balderton, has a background in voice acting and theatre. He likes to talk to the audience and have a good laugh with everybody. He is considered the most sensible one of the group and holds proceedings together.

Alex, of Collingham, is full of whimsical puns and plays on words. He is considered crazy and off-the-wall, yet still redeemably loveable.

Alex said: “We have been putting on these gigs for almost a year now and they are going very well.

“We are five very different comedians joined by different guests each month, offering a unique look into love, life and the universe from varying directions.

“This time I have the honour of compering the comedy night.”

Doors open at 7.30pm with the gig starting at about 8.30pm.
