Paterson Joseph brings one man show Sancho and Me to Nottingham Playhouse
An actor who has starred in Peep Show, Green Wing and Wonka is brining his one-man show to the stage.
Paterson Joseph wrote and stars in Sancho and Me — For One Night Only, a powerful monologue that explores ideas of belonging, language, education, slavery, commerce, violence, threat, politics, music and love, and where these themes intersect with Paterson’s own story of being Black and British.
He will be on stage at Nottingham Playhouse on July 20.
Be inspired by the extraordinary story of 18th century abolitionist Ignatius Sancho, who was born on a slave ship on the Atlantic Ocean, and yet became a writer, composer, shopkeeper and the first Black man to vote in England.
The evening begins with Streetwise Opera’s Chips off the old block, as part of a celebration of artists of African and Caribbean heritage in the Re:Discover festival.
