Interview by Dawn Bond

More than 100m people from around the world tuned into America’s Got Talent, last season, to see The Texas Tenors who were voted 2009’s Vocal Group of the Year.

Now, for the first time they are touring the UK and will perform at Lincoln Theatre Royal on Saturday, September 4, at 7.30pm.

The classically-trained tenors, JC Fisher, Marcus Collins and John Hagen, will perform some of the most romantic songs of the last century. They will blend gospel, country, classical and Broadway tunes with their close harmonies, comedy and a hint of cowboy charm.

Marcus said: “We had known each other since childhood but only got together three months before appearing on the talent show.

“We thought we would give it a shot and could not believe it when we ended up in the semi-final and final, coming fourth overall.

“John is a very talented opera singer while JC loves country and gospel. I perform pop music and show tunes and together we formed this great sound that people all over the world seemed to love.

“We chose to sing Unchained Melody in the semi-final but our musical director had to get the okay from Simon Cowell to give us permission to sing it, which he did. We then chose to perform My Way in the final.”

Marcus said he had wanted to be a singer from an early age and performed in a lot of talent contests.

After training classically at college he took to the stage performing as Joseph in Joseph And The Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Hairspray and Altar Boyz. He starred opposite Bruce Willis in Perfect Stranger.
