We reviewed Glass Animals and The Big Moon at Motorpoint Arena

We went to a concert that had one of the most astonishing stages and projections I remember seeing recently, I was absolutely hypnotized.

Glass Animals, an indie rock band formed in Oxford in 2010, rocked the stage at Motorpoint Arena last night (October 3).

Supported by British indie rock band, The Big Moon, thousands of fans sang along, jumped, danced and smiled for the duration of both the main concert and the support act.

As we entered the arena, we were directed to our Hospitality Suite, named the Executive Suite, where all staff was friendly and caring while directing us to our seats and asking if we needed or wanted anything else such as food or drinks.

As we waited for the concert to start we saw people and more people arriving, just as excited as us for the music and the explosion of happiness to start.

The Big Moon started their concert and I immediately recognised some songs from their previous and most popular albums — Walking Like We Do and Here (2020) and Here Is Everything (2022).

The indie rock band was super friendly and it was notorious that they were enjoying the crowds. Having seen them about two years ago at Rough Trade, Nottingham, it is amazing to see them perform on a bigger stage to a bigger audience.

As they performed their last song, Your Light, they said goodbye to the fans and announced that they would be at the merchandise stall at the end of the concert, which truth be told, excited screams were heard all over the arena.

At 9pm, Glass Animals entered the stage, but not before one of the coolest stage projection videos that I have ever seen, making it the perfect entrance to a futuristic yet retro stage.

The band performed 14 songs plus two of their biggest hits on the encore and I am still thinking today of how amazing that concert was.

From the songs and the fans’ interaction to the stage, it was simply amazing and an unforgettable experience, they knew what they were doing when they produced this whole concert.

The second song that they performed was their latest single release this year — Wonderful Nothing — and that drove fans to the edge, what a performance.

The concert transported me and easily everyone else in the venue to space, it is just like entering a new reality and you don’t want it to end.

They performed some of their hits such as — Space Ghost Coast to Coast, Creatures in Heaven, Youth and Pork Soda.

But as some say, the best was saved for last, when they returned to the stage to bless the fans with Tokyo Drifting and their most popular tune, Heat Waves, where the arena became one, what an atmosphere.

So for yesterday evening, I have to thank the bands for such amazing performances that I will not forget, it was not only a concert but a show.

Additionally, the staff at Motorpoint Arena was incredibly helpful and kind so that definitely added an extra bonus to the whole experience.
