St Martin’s Voices to performs Christmas programme in Southwell Minster with Classic FM presenter Zeb Soanes
An acclaimed vocal ensemble is to perform a concert of readings and carols with a radio presenter this winter.
St Martin’s Voices — who are based at London’s iconic St Martin-in-the-Fields — will perform at Southwell Minster on Friday, November 29.
They will be accompanied by Classic FM presenter Zeb Soanes for the musical event, which takes place in the celebratory year marking the 140th anniversary of the Minster becoming a cathedral.
Entitled ‘Winter’, the programme includes seasonal classics such as ‘Silent Night’ and ‘In the Bleak Midwinter’, alongside new works by contemporary composers Lucy Walker — St Martin’s Voices Composer-in-Residence — Cecilia McDowall, and Reena Esmail, from the choir's recent album ‘A Winter Breviary’ released on Resonus Classics last year.
Andrew Earis, director of music for St Martin’s Voices said: “With more than ten festive concerts programmed in London’s St Martin-in-the-Fields this Christmas, St Martin’s Voices is delighted to be heading further afield to spread the Christmas cheer to audiences in Southwell.
“The concert will be a fitting way for audiences to enter the festive season and we are thrilled to be working with the talented Zeb Soanes to bring a fresh dimension to the proceedings.”
Zeb Soanes added: “I’m looking forward to visiting Southwell Minster for the first time, in this special celebratory year. So many treasures to explore, I think we’ll need to book in a second performance to give me time to see everything.”
