World famous Black Dyke Band to return to Southwell Minster
A brass band regarded by many to be the most famous and successful in history is returning to Southwell Minster.
The Black Dyke Band was formed in 1855 in the Yorkshire town of Queensbury, and has since won no less than 24 National, 30 British Open and 13 European Championship titles.
It is also the current National Champion Band of Great Britain by virtue of a winning performance at the National Brass Band Championships held at the Royal Albert Hall, London in October 2023.
The band will be returning to Southwell to perform a concert in the Minster on Saturday, August 31, from 7pm.
It comes a week before the band will compete at the British Open Brass Band Championships held annually in Birmingham’s Symphony Hall.
In the last year alone the Black Dyke Band has performed on the Pyramid stage at Glastonbury, The Royal Albert Hall in London and the KKL concert hall in Lucerne, Switzerland.
Under the leadership of musical director Nicholas Childs, the band will deliver an exciting and varied programme of music that will showcase the incredible talents of the band and its world class soloists.
The band’s last concert at the Minster was a sold out show, and tickets for the August concert are available on the Ticket Source website.
