X Factor winner to star in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat at Theatre Royal, Nottingham
Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat is heading to Nottingham — with an X Factor winner in tow.
X Factor winner Joe McElderry will next year return to the musical as Pharaoh, and is set to perform at Theatre Royal, Nottingham from February 5 to 15, 2025.
He will rock ‘Song of the King’ in the iconic musical, having last performed in the production’s titular role during its celebrated 2017 to 2018 UK tour.
Joe, who has three reality contest wins under his belt, has also been a regular on the stage, receiving rave reviews for his portrayals of the titular roles in The Who’s rock opera Tommy, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, and Club Tropicana: The Musical.
Joe said: “I am delighted to join the company of the London Palladium production of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. I have such a long history with the show and to re-join in a different role, this time playing Pharaoh, will be so exciting. I can’t wait to perform to amazing audiences in Nottingham in a show so close to my heart. Don’t miss out on next year’s ‘dream’ ticket.”
The multi-award-winning Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat has become one of the world’s most beloved family musicals, and has been performed hundreds of thousands of times including multiple runs in the West End and on Broadway and international tours in over 80 countries worldwide.
The musical is directed by Laurence Connor, choreographed by JoAnn M Hunter, and produced by Michael Harrison, with set and costume design by Morgan Large, Ben Cracknell as lighting designer and Gareth Owen as sound designer.
