A-levels 2022: Dukeries Academy Ollerton posts 98% success rate




Students at The Dukeries Academy sixth form in Ollerton posted a 98% pass rate in A-levels and equivalent qualifications.

The results were: A*-A: 14.2%, A*-B: 33.9%, A*-C: 64.2%, A*-D: 85.0%, A*-E: 98.2% and the average A-level grade was a C+ while in vocational qualifications, it was a distinction.

There were 41students in the cohort, described as a remarkable group of young people who overcame significant challenges created by the covid pandemic to excel and achieve the success their hard work, resilience and determination, undoubtedly deserved.

All students have attained results that will secure their university/apprenticeship place or offer of employment.

Of the students who have applied for university a significant majority are taking up their first-choice offer.

More than 25% of students will study at one of the leading Russell Group UK universities.

The school said it was proud of all the students and highlighted the academic excellence of the following students who have attended The Dukeries Academy since year 7:

Ashlie Marrows: A* in English literature, A in history and A in philosophy and ethics. Ashlie is going to Manchester University to study history and Italian; Emma Benton: A* in English literature, A* in sociology and B in fine art. Emma will study journalism, media and culture at Newcastle University; Michael March: A in English literature, A in philosophy and ethics and B in history. Michael has a place at Royal Holloway University to study English literature; Annie Lewis: A* in philosophy and ethics, A in English literature and B in Fine art. Annie will read classical civilisations at Durham University; Libby Romaniewicz: distinction* in psychology, A in drama and B in sociology. Libby will study theatre and social change at the Rose Bruford University in London.

Dukeries Academy principal, Ged Rae said: "I am exceptionally proud our year 13 students and grateful to our staff team.

"Despite the disruption, caused by covid, students have made exceptional progress, lived our values, and demonstrated no end of resilience and hard work. They have been supported by our talented and committed staff who have expertly delivered our ambitious and future-focussed curriculum as well as providing extensive pastoral support and guidance.

"I wish each one of them every success on their next adventure."

"Outcomes like this will ensure that these young people have a solid foundation for future study and employment. This is a real success for the academy and the community it serves and builds on their successful Ofsted inspection last autumn."
