A tale of the Wild West
Children dressed as cowboys and indians to launch their new school topic of the Wild West.
Pupils at Newton-on-Trent primary learned about the lifestyles, geography, and history of the era.
They used their creative skills to produce wanted posters, clay snake pots and cactus plants, as well as Native American Indian dream catchers and totem poles.
The school’s head, Mrs Alyson Bristow, said: “A local small-holding provided straw bales to create a campsite on the school field, and we built and lit a campfire in the middle of the circle.
“A chef arrived with his outdoor cooking equipment and soon the whole school was settled around the campfire tucking into bangers and beans.
“The staff then entertained the children with traditional campfire singing.
“Being such a small school, we can organise whole school events where the children of different ages come together and share their enthusiasm with each other.”
