Al between Newark and North Muskham closed as a car has overturned

The A1 is currently closed northbound between Newark and North Muskham following a road incident with severe delays resulting.

Officers from Nottinghamshire Police were called just before 4.45pm today (Sunday, June 20) to a report of a car which had overturned.

There were three occupants in the car. It’s not currently believed anyone was seriously injured.

It’s not believed any other vehicles were involved.

The AA reports the A1 closed and queueing traffic due to a rolled over car on A1 northbound from the A46 Newark Showground/air museum turn off to the B6325 Great North Road.

It also says the entry ramp tom the A1 is closed due to the A1 because of the accident.

The northbound carriageway remains closed while the vehicle is recovered. Drivers are advised to avoid the area if possible.

The AA said severe delays of 13 minutes are increasing on the A1 northbound between the B6326 Great North Road Balderton/Claypole turn off and B6325 Great North Road. Average speed 10mph.
