A1 southbound re-opens following three-vehicle collision

The A1 southbound at Claypole has been cleared and has re-opened after a vehicle shed its load of meat onto the carriageway.

A van, a lorry and a car were involved in the collision, which took place at around 6.30am.

One lane of the A1 southbound was closed while emergency services dealt with the incident.

Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue released one person from a vehicle.

A spokesman for Nottinghamshire Police said one casualty was taken to the Queen's Medical Centre, Nottingham, and another to Lincoln Hospital. Neither have injuries believed to be life-threatening.

All vehicles have been recovered from the road and the shed load has been cleared.
