Activity programme for dads and siblings comes to Nottinghamshire

An activity-based programme which focusses on strengthening bonds between dads and their sons and daughters has been organised by Nottinghamshire YMCA.

Adventure Guides, which promotes community, nature, friendship and fun, has been popular in America for a number of years.

Nottinghamshire is the only area in the UK which has the Adventure Guides programme.

The Father’s Day Adventure Guides event, at Holme Pierrepont on the weekend of June 17-18, will include camping, paddle sports, laser tag, team games and more.

It is subsidised by Nottinghamshire YMCA, who are working on a multi-million pound sports and wellbeing hub for land off Bowbridge Road in Newark, and The Big Lottery Fund.

Adventures Guides is open to all families with children, and there is no need to be a YMCA member to participate.

A trip similar to this, including all the activities, an evening meal and breakfast, usually costs about £75 per person.

However, it is being offered for £40 per family.
