Another barrier fault on Newark to Nottingham railway line
There were delays at a level crossing on the Newark to Nottingham line following a fault.
The barriers at the Staythorpe crossing become stuck in the down position at 2pm this afternoon.
A spokesman for Network Rail said: "Engineers are now on site at the crossing working to resolve the problem and are now operating the barrier manually in order to relieve congestion on the roads.
"We apologise sincerely for any delays caused."
Nottinghamshire Police are also on site.
It follows a level crossing failure at Rolleston, which happened on August 27.
On that occasion, barriers were stuck in the up position. Despite the flashing red warning lights, at least 10 vehicles crossed over the line.
Network Rail said trains slowed before the crossing and were only allowed to cross when given approval by a signaller.
