Acting on intelligence, the Newark and Sherwood Operation Reacher team raided a semi-detached property shortly after 1pm on Sunday.

The property, on Crompton Road, Bilsthorpe, had clear signs of having been used as a cannabis grow, with equipment bagged up ready to be removed.

A 36-year-old man found in the bathroom was arrested on suspicion of cultivation of cannabis.

A 24-year-old man found hiding in a van outside was also arrested on suspicion of cultivation of cannabis and false imprisonment.

Sergeant Michael Taylor, leader of the Newark and Sherwood Operation Reacher team, said: “This warrant was productive in terms of disrupting drugs activities and those who prey on the vulnerable to conduct it.

“This action is thanks to community and wider intelligence. Local people have told us they want to see us take action on drugs — it is a priority for us — and so we hope this action gives our community confidence to report this kind of information to us.

“As a local proactive team we remain nimble to what the community wants us to tackle, and we would continue to urge anyone with information to get in touch with us via 101.”
