The Bishop of Sherwood is spend time in local prisons over the Easter period.
He will spend a couple of hours in Lowdham, Whatton and Ranby prisons.
“I want to support the staff who do an incredible job in very difficult circumstances,” said the Rt Rev Tony Porter. “Everybody takes notice when something goes wrong but the vast majority of the time they just get on with the job.”
Bishop Tony will be at Ranby today, Lowdham Grange on Good Friday and Whatton on Easter Sunday.
“Jesus is very clear in the Gospels that we’re not to forget people in prison – everyone has the right to hear the glorious Gospel message of Easter and to turn from what they know to be wrong and find new life in Christ.”
