Pupils wore blue to show support for the Be Bright Blue campaign at Beaumond House Community Hospice, Newark.

Youngsters at Chuter Ede Primary School, Balderton, made donations to the hospice appeal to buy two new beds and mattresses that will cost £10,000.

The fundraising and marketing manager at Beaumond House, Cathy Lowe, said they were delighted the school had decided to get involved.

“We get lots of support from schools in the Newark area but we would always welcome more,” she said.

The appeal has so far raised more than £1,300 and still has a long way to go to reach the target. Cathy said the beds were urgently needed.

Donations can be made at the JustGiving page.
