The Brinwade Chronicles book launched at literary stall in Newark Market Place
A literary market in Newark at the weekend gave readers and writers a taste of what the town’s annual book festival would have offered.
The festival was due to have taken place in July, but was cancelled because of coronavirus restrictions.
Among the stallholders were members of the Fosseway Writers, who launched their latest book, a collaborative novel.
The book, The Brinwade Chronicles, is a collection of Gothic-themed stories by 13 members of the group.
It centres on a fictional village close to Newark.
The project began before lockdown and was switched online to get it completed.
The group spoke about the project in one of a series of online events that took place over the weekend.
They included a self-publishing taster webinar, a science fiction, horror and fantasy panel, and an In Conversation event with authors Cathy Bramley and Rachael Lucas.
A Newark Book Festival poem about the town, which was commissioned by the festival and written by its poet in residence, Leanne Moden of Nottingham, appeared in locations across Newark during the weekend.
