A deadly attack on a hotel in Tunisia has left 38 people dead.

At least five Britons are among those dead, after a gunman went on a deadly rampage at the Hotel Imperial Marhaba and Hotel Bellevue Park in the tourist destination Sousse.

There were also 36 other people left injured during the attack, which took place on Friday morning.

Islamic State Extremists have taken responsibility for the attack.

Thomson and First Choice said their customers were among "a number of fatalities", and they had sent 10 planes to bring home 2,500 tourists, with the first arriving home this morning.
