Bumper year of events at Southwell Minster

Southwell Minster is pleased to announce a stellar events programme for 2023.

An incredible music line-up, with award-winning tribute act performances from Meat Loaf (including stars from the West End smash Bat Out of Hell), Fleetwood Mac, The Eagles, Michael Bublé, Queen and ABBA, who have sold out two years in a row, will entertain thousands both inside the minster and in the Palace Gardens, whilst Tina’s Ultimate Rock Show will once again end the outdoor music season.

Popular favourites such as the plant and craft fairs will also have spring versions, whilst local artist Sarah Flanagan brings another superb art installation after Easter.

Space Voyage, the incredible light installation by Luxmuralis, postponed in 2022 after the death of Her Majesty the Queen, will premiere in September, whilst Luke Jerram’s Gaia will grace the nave for three weeks during the summer holidays, allowing people to see the earth like never before.

Nottingham actress Vicky McClure brings Our Dementia Choir in June, whilst Nottinghamshire music legend Sheku Kanneh-Mason will perform a special show in August.

A special street party, similar to that for the Queen’s Jubilee which was so well received by the public, will be held to mark the Coronation of King Charles III on Bank Holiday Monday, May 8.

There will be the usual outdoor theatre season, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Sense and Sensibility and Wuthering Heights, as well as indoor theatre with The Winter’s Tale and an Audience with King Henry VIII.

The Bramley Apple Festival of Food and Drink will be back in October, and The Magic of Christmas will also return in December after its inaugural success in 2022.
