Burglar with axe runs off after finding 11-year-old girl at home

A burglar carrying an axe fled after he walked in on an 11-year-old girl in her bedroom.

The man is suspected of entering the home, in High Street, South Clifton, before picking up the axe and searching the property.

After discovering the girl, he ran off empty-handed.

The incident happened on Saturday.

The man is described as white but slightly tanned, aged between 40 and 50, quite short with a fat stomach but skinny legs. He has short grey hair, and stubble on his face and neck.

He was wearing a red, green and blue chequered long-sleeved shirt which was lightly padded and denim blue jeans. He may have been wearing black boots.
