Bus firm in running for top award
A bus company that operates in the Newark area has been shortlisted for a national award.
Marshalls, of Sutton-on-Trent, is up for the title of top independent operator at the UK Bus Awards, having been chosen from more than 250 entries.
The announcement was made at a finalist event at the Museum of Transport in Greater Manchester.
The top independent operator award recognises bus companies that provide an outstanding service and are committed to their customers and employees.
Mr Kenneth Tagg, operations manager at Marshalls, said being nominated was a proud moment.
He said: “It is gratifying to have our hard work and commitment to serving the public recognised in such a way.
“Not only is it an honour to be in the running for this prestigious award, it is also confirmation of how good bus services in the Nottinghamshire area really are, as in recent years many bus companies from the area, as well as individuals from local companies and local authorities, have been either winners or finalists in different categories of these awards.
“This recognition is due in no small part to our excellent team, from drivers to cleaners, fitters and back office staff, who all play a vital role in the smooth running of our services.”
Mr Mark Yexley, chairman of the UK Bus Awards, said: “To be a finalist in this category is a great achievement.
“Companies must demonstrate outstanding levels of performance, and every member of the team has input in making this happen.
“It is a great honour to be able to recognise these independent businesses.”
The award winners will be announced on November 21 at a ceremony in London.
