Southwell Town Council approve plans to buy new chainsaw, with condition on fuel usage
A council has agreed to buy a chainsaw — provided it is run with more environmentally-friendly fuel within the next six months.
Southwell Town Council’s town environment committee considered a proposal for the council to buy a larger chainsaw, in order to chop up a fallen tree at Squires Pond, at its meeting on Wednesday (September 13).
Peter Harris suggested a condition should be made to the proposal that the equipment will be run on ethanol to gasoline fuel by six months time.
He explained it would be a “small additional cost” but as the chainsaw does not use much fuel per year it would be possible.
Karen Roberts added: “I want to see it used straight away.”
Jamie Bostock suggested a modification to the proposal that it should be brought in immediately if possible, but definitely by March 2024.
The chainsaw will be funded using money in the Squires Pond budget.
The modified proposal was unanimously accepted.
