Supporters of Newark’s Beaumond House Community Hospice came together for a fun-filled fundraiser that ended with a paint fight.

More than 550 runners and walkers took part in the hospice’s Chase The Rainbow 5k.

The event was being held for the third time, but was at a new venue, Southwell Racecourse, after previously taking place at Newark Showground.

An introduction by Radio Newark got things under way. There was then a warm-up before participants set out on the 5k course, where they were pelted with powdered paint at various points, before a paint fight ensued after they crossed the finish line.

The hospice’s fundraising co-ordinator, Leza Burton, said: “It was a fantastic new venue and the weather was fantastic, which added to the colour.

“We were sold out in this, our third year.

“I want to say a huge thank you to everyone who supported us, either by taking part or in sponsoring those who took part, or the businesses that sponsored the event.

Leza said sponsorship money needed to be in by July 4 to either Beaumond House’s Newark or Southwell shops or to the hospice on London Road.
