New low-cost pre-loved, vintage and curios shop The Cabin opens its doors in Bingham with a community focus

A new business venture is aiming to make shopping affordable for the whole community.

The Cabin, which sells everything from branded clothing to furniture and DVDs at low prices, opened its doors in Bingham for the first time on Tuesday (January 16).

Owner Amy Winstanley said: “There’s a variety of things — new things, pre-loved things, vintage, curios. Clothes both new and pre-loved, for children and adults.

“I want people to be able to come in without a load of money and be able to get themselves an outfit for a couple of quid.

“I’ve got brand-new walking boots for £3, so if people don’t have lots of money to spend, or they need them for a job they’re starting, it’s not going to cost the earth. I wanted it to be for the community.”

The shop, at the Old Post Office Yard, is entirely community-focused, and Amy hopes it will allow people to shop more affordably amid rising prices.

She had the business idea for over a year before the unit became available and she took the chance, and has received a positive reaction so far.

“The Facebook post went down really well,” she added.
“I had a steady flow of customers yesterday.”

While community-focussed, The Cabin is not a charity shop and all the stock is bought by Amy.

However, after being approached about donations Amy plans to identify donated items with a tag, and give 50% of the profit from those items to a good cause in Bingham.

The Cabin is open 9.30am to 3pm from Tuesday to Friday, and 12pm to 4pm on Saturday.
