A MAN who assaulted a woman, caused criminal damage and used threatening behaviour towards someone else was sentenced to a 12-month community order at Nottingham Magistrates’ Court.

Nicholas Birch, 45, of Barnbygate, Newark, pleaded guilty to all offences, which were committed on the same day.

The sentence includes a rehabilitation requirement.

He must pay £150 compensation for damaging a mobile phone and a sewing box, and pay £190 costs from benefits.

A 76-YEAR-OLD who caused £180 of damage to a car on the street where he lives was conditionally discharged for six months.

Robert Bird, of Green Walk, Whatton, admitted criminal damage to the Peugeot and was ordered to pay the amount of the damage in compensation, as well as £85 costs.

A PERSISTENT offender who was more than twice the legal drink-drive limit was banned from driving for 48 months and handed a suspended prison sentence.

Ibrahim Akar escaped an immediate jail sentence because of the impact jail would have on others and his business, along with the real prospect of rehabilitation.

Akar, 35, of Nottingham Road, Burton Joyce, had 190mg of alcohol in 100ml of blood. The legal limit is 80.

Akar, who pleaded guilty, received 12 weeks, suspended for 12 months and must do 60 days of rehabilitation in that time. He must also pay £207 costs.

A MAN who twice emailed a woman he had already been convicted of harassing was jailed.

David Anderson was jailed for eight weeks after he admitted breaching a restraining order.

The court heard Anderson, 40, of Avondale, Cotgrave, had a flagrant disregard for court orders and was subject to a community order for harassing the woman when he re-offended.
