Damage to vehicles linked to social media posts

Police are investigating Snapchat and Facebook posts that might identify those responsible for a spate of damage to vehicles in the Blatherwick Road area of Newark on Saturday.

It is believed the offences may be linked to damage caused to fencing close to the Collis Close play area.

Four people reported damage to their vehicles to police, who are investigating Snapchat posts in which a group of youths appeared to claim credit for the incidents.

They were then reported to have been identified on Facebook.

The social media posts have since been deleted.

Anyone with information is asked to call police on 101.
