Two East Coast train services running between Newark Northgate and London King's Cross have been cancelled after a train broke down this morning.

The broken down train is the East Coast Trains 6.47am service from Newcastle to London King's Cross, which was due to reach the capital at 8.12am.

The 10.08 London King's Cross to Newark Northgate service and the 11.54 Newark Northgate to London King's Cross services have also both been cancelled. The company says that no other services are affected but there will be minor delays.

The company tweeted earlier this morning that services running through Newark Northgate may be cancelled or delayed at short notice.

East Midlands Trains say there has only been a "minimal impact" on their services.
