Newark: Owner of Petit Versailles on Stodman Street spreads her wings for shop display

A designer says a sprinkle of stardust from retail angels helped her create a window display she hopes will contribute to a magical Christmas.

Paris-trained designer Hajra Kemari, of Petit Versailles on Stodman Street, Newark, is known for her impressive creations — having already featured in the Advertiser for making a rainbow dress for the NHS.

For her festive display, Hajra wanted to design a dress with wings to pass on a message of peace, hope and love during what will be a tough Christmas for some people.

Her creation is a white knee-length dress made from silk tulle. It has a sweetheart neckline and ruching on the bodice, with the skirt lit by warm-coloured lights.

Hajra further designed a pair of angel wings out of individual feathers made from paper to accompany the dress. She spent around two weeks making the wings alone.
