“Disappointment doesn’t come into it. I thought we were supposed to be reporting these breaches and the councils were supposed to act.

“There have been 60 lorries counted by residents at Bottom Green taking more building waste to the site since January 11.”

The material is understood to be connected to a development in the village.

A spokesman for Newark and Sherwood District Council told the Advertiser: “The council is aware of residents’ concerns about the site and has received a number of reports over a considerable period of time about activity taking place on the land.

“As part of ongoing investigations officers have attended the site on numerous occasions, along with colleagues from the Environment Agency and Nottinghamshire County Council.

“The council is currently working with the landowner to resolve a number of issues on the land which relate to developments that have previously been authorised.”
