Girton farmer forced to surrender game fowl to RSPCA by order of Nottingham Magistrates' Court among latest court listings
A farmer forced to surrender game fowl to the RSPCA is among the latest court listings.
Read both cases below.
A FARMER has had to surrender game fowl under the Animal Welfare Act by order of Nottingham Magistrates’ Court.
The court ordered farmer Richard Price of New Lane, Girton, give up 73 game fowl to the RSPCA.
A MAN who failed to provide a specimen of breath when suspected of committing a driving offence received a suspended sentence.
Magistrates found Charles Beech, 53 guilty of the offence, which he had denied, following a trial.
Beech, of Sherwood Park, Walesby, was sentenced to 12 weeks in jail, suspended for a year.
They said it had to be taken very seriously because it was a second offence, because of a high level of intoxication and the impairment to driving which would have resulted from that.
An immediate custodial sentence was avoided.
The reasons given were the defendant’s age, ill health and the impact jail would have on his mental health.
Magistrates sitting in Nottingham imposed a driving disqualification of 48 months.
Beech was told he must pay £748 in judiciary costs.
