Santa to visit charitable Christmas Fair in Newark helping families in Nottingham's Neonatal Intensive Care Units (NICU)

Children will have a chance to meet Santa this weekend at a charitable Christmas fair.

Eight small businesses from the area will be selling their wares at Millgate Community Centre, Newark, on Saturday as part of an event for Nottingham's Neonatal Intensive Care Units.

From handmade children's clothes to hair accessories and Christmas crafts it is an opportunity for some festive gift shopping.

There will also be a Santa's grotto, where children can meet Father Christmas, receive a present and have a professional photo taken.

Sarah Massey, owner of Newark-based Ciarán's Bags, a initiative providing care bags to families of premature and unwell babies, organised the fair to raise money for the cause.

She said: "We will be playing Christmas music and there will be cakes, refreshments and mince pies."

A raffle and tombola with prizes donated by Newark businesses will help raise money for Ciarán's Bags, helping to support families and provide some home comforts in an emotionally difficult time.

Prizes include beauty vouchers, a Christmas photo session and even a racetrack experience.

Tickets to meet Santa can be bought online or on the day.

The fair will run from 12pm to 5pm.
