East Stoke with Thorpe Parish Council offers free copies of book by David E. Roberts, of Wharf Farm in 1987
East Stoke with Thorpe Parish Council is offering free copies of the 70-page book written by David E. Roberts, of Wharf Farm in 1987, which delves into the history of the battle that took place over 500 years ago.
The book, written by the late Mr Roberts, was commissioned by the East Stoke Battle Committee, with the Rev Graham Firth enthusiastically involved in its production.
It contains photographs, maps and drawings.
The Battle of Stoke Field on June 16, 1487, is considered the last battle of the Wars Of The Roses, since it was the last major engagement between contenders for the throne whose claims derived from descent from the houses of Lancaster and York.
Anyone wanting a copy should apply to parish clerk Mike Elliott at 19/21 Main Street, Keyworth, Nottingham. NG12 5AA, 0115 937 6506.
There is a post and packing charge of £1.50, payable by BACS to Elliott News; sort code 542147; account number 10788891.
