Newark and Sherwood District Council announces free parking on Sundays pre-Christmas

Pre-Christmas free parking in five Newark carparks will start on Sunday and run for four consecutive Sundays until December 19.

Newark and Sherwood District Council is calling on residents to use the free parking to do their Christmas shopping locally this year and help support the town’s retailers and high streets.

It is hoped free parking on Sundays will assist retailers post pandemic and help attract more footfall to the town centre.

The council said Newark had independent shops selling unique items ideal for presents as well as butchers, bakers and market stalls offer everything needed for Christmas dinner.

The district council-run car parks involved are Appletongate, London Road, The Wharf, Tolney Lane, and Castle House.
