Fundraiser organised after mum and daughter die within hours of each other
A charity that had been supported by a woman who lost her life just hours before her newborn baby died will benefit from a fundraising quiz held in Newark.
Mr Craig Renton, from Fernwood, is raising money for Nottingham University Hospital’s radiology unit, so it can buy a new MRI scanner - a cause his wife Heidi, a Nottingham University Hospital therapy radiographer, was passionate about.
Heidi was nine months pregnant when she fell ill on August 4 and died in hospital that day.
The couple’s baby, Isabella, was delivered by emergency caesarean section but died at just 15 hours old.
Selina Town, the licensee of the Organ Grinder public house pub on Victoria Street, Newark, was so moved by the events that affected the Renton family that she decided to organise the event for the Nottingham Hospitals Charity Fund.

Craig is not critical of the hospital and does not know why Heidi died, although he believes it was natural causes.
The quiz, on Wednesday, starts at 8pm and costs £1 to enter per person.
The 40 raffle prizes include tickets to next year's British Superbikes, a this season signed Newcastle United football shirt and a Geoff Hurst signed 1966 World Cup final photograph.
Newark Fire Station has also pledged a crew for four hours of work in the home or garden.
"It was such a sad story to read. Being from Newark, it just seemed the right thing to do," said Advertiser reader Selina.
"While I don't know him, he has been in the pub before and he's a lovely guy."
More than £18,000 has so far been raised.
