Woman finally completes fundraising goal for Newark Emmaus Trust which was launched before covid
It has taken more than two years to get over the line but Sharon Richardson has finally completed her fundraising goal for a charity that helps young homeless people.
The fundraising and communications manager at the Newark Emmaus Trust signed up for the Rutland Spring Half-marathon Walk — before covid struck — to raise much-needed money for the trust.
The pandemic forced the event to be rescheduled but, undeterred, Sharon and her daughter Naomi Challands trained hard for the 13.1-mile walk.
The day of the event was sunny and cold, with the odd blizzard thrown in, but the pair managed to complete the course in a very respectable time of three hours 40 minutes.
Between the two of them they raised £200 in sponsorship for the trust.
This was generously match-funded by NFU Mutual in Newark to bring the total to £400.
Sarah Topliss, from NFU Mutual, Newark said: “Well done to both of you on completing the half-marathon for such a worthy cause.
“We are delighted to support your great efforts.”
