Garages look set to make way for homes

Garages and outbuildings that are said to be run-down could be demolished to make way for four houses.

The three-bedroom homes could be built behind Hill Vue Gardens, Newark, subject to approval from Newark and Sherwood District Council.

Members of Newark Town Council’s planning committee, in commenting on the proposal, did not object.

Chairman Mr Tony Roberts said: “It is a nice solution to a parcel of land that is pretty run-down.

“The garages there are run-down.”

Committee vice-chairman Mr Mathew Skinner said it looked as though the development had not been shoehorned into the land available.

“I just want to add that it should only be approved if there is no objection from the neighbours,” he said.

The district council will decide the application.
