Gardens in Hardwick St Langwith, Southwell and Halam will be open for visit this wekeend for the National Garden Scheme open gardens




As the weather improves over the weekend, people are invited to visit a National Garden Scheme open garden.

From tomorrow (Thursday 18) and over the weekend (July 20 and 21), three gardens will be opening up to the public, providing garden lovers and families with a great day out.

The Rhubarb Farm, Hardwick St. Langwith will be open for visits on Thursday (July 18) from 10.30am to 3pm.

The two-acre horticultural enterprise provides training and volunteering opportunities to 60 members of the community some with special needs.

Home to hens, pigs, donkeys, and a pony it also highlights a wealth of horticultural practices and grows flowers, fruit and vegetables and eggs for sale.

There will be a chance to meet and chat with volunteers.

Plants will be up for sale as well as refreshments.

On Saturday (July 20) at Park Farm, Crink Lane in Southwell a three-acre garden will be open from 1pm until 4.30pm.

The garden is noted for for its extensive variety of trees, shrubs and perennials, many rare or unusual.

Long luxuriant herbaceous borders, rose arches, alpine/scree garden, large wildlife pond and area of woodland with acid loving plants.

The Southwell Minster is visible from the garden across a wildflower meadow.

It is dog-friendly and there will be plants and refreshments for sale.

To end the weekend, The Old Vicarage, Halam Hill, Halam will open on Sunday from 1pm to 4.30pm.

The garden has been opening for many years for the National Garden Scheme and is a firm favourite garden of many returning visitors.

The two-acre hillside garden is planted with an artful eye for design, colour texture and a love of unusual plants and trees.

There is a new garden planting at the bottom of the garden which attracts diverse wildlife.

Like the previous gardens, it is dog-friendly and will have plants and refreshments for sale.
