Inspire Buttermarket and Newark Creates to host free summer holiday craft workshops to create Carnival costumes for Newark Festival’s parade
A series of free craft workshops are set to get families decked out ready for the Newark Festival Carnival Procession — and there’s still places available.
Inspire Newark Buttermarket and the Newark Creates team will host the sessions on the week beginning Monday, August 18, ready for the parade on Monday, August 25.
The creative workshops are best suited for children aged seven and up, and offer an opportunity to make a variety of carnival costumes and props.
Professional artists Emily Cartwright and Ruth Pigott will lead the crafts.
The sessions are ‘Fox Heads and Tails’ on Monday, August 18; ‘Giant Paper Flowers’ on Tuesday, August 19; ‘Buzzy Bees Lanterns’ on Wednesday, August 20; and ‘Woodland Deer Headdresses and Whimsical Woodland Staffs’ on Thursday, August 21.
Two workshops will take place each day at 10am to 12.30pm, and 1pm to 3.30pm.
To book, email sara.bullimore@inspireculture.org.uk stating which of the free workshops you would like to attend.
Crafters will then be able to show off their creations as part of Newark Festival Carnival Parade, which will take place from 3.30pm on bank holiday Monday.
