Runners of all ages and from across the country took part in Newark Half-marathon.
Despite the windy and wet weather, an estimated 1,300 runners took part in the event, which saw the participants set off and finish at the Tom Mann Pavilion at Sconce and Devon Park.
The course set off down to East Stoke and across to Elston, before heading back up to Hawton and back into town to the park.
The winner of the half marathon was Joe Wilkinson, from Lincoln, who crossed the line in 1-07-37, and the first female runner to cross the line was Samathan Harrison, from Nottingham, who finished in 1-15-06.
Runners were taking part in the event for a number of local charities, including the Children's Bereavement Centre, CASY, Beaumond House Community Hospice and HUG.
Also taking part was District Councillor Johno Lee, who lost his leg while serving in Afghanistan in 2007, and he completed the half marathon in 2-23-03 despite a calf injury he sustained at around the seven mile mark.
He said: "I was aiming for 2-15 finish but I was in so much pain, those last 300metres I didn't think I'd be able to finish.
"But I saw my kids and my wife at the finish line and I just gritted my teeth and managed to sprint across the line. This is the furthest I've run since I've lost my leg and it's a massive achievement.
"I'd like to say a huge thank you to everyone at Newark Triathlon Club, they've been amazing helping me with my training."
He has so far raised £370 for the Newark Patriotic Fund.
Former Advertiser reporter David Parker was running in memory of former Advertiser sports reporter Warwick Lane, who died of leukaemia last year at the age of 25.
He crossed the line in 1-59, and he said after the race: "It feels amazing, it wasn't really about the time for me, just about raising money in memory of Rick.
"I'm so grateful to everyone who has supported me and sponsored me, and I'd like to say a huge thank you."
Matthew Ash and Katrina Middleton, from Newark, were running the half marathon for HUG, and this was a tough challenge for Katrina as she suffers from fibromyalgia, and had also had a miscarriage.
She said: "I'm just hoping to finish it, it will be a tough one."
The pair finished together in 3-06-36.
Friends Stacie Goodreid, from London, and Claire Hampson, from Newark, agreed to sign up for the half marathon after a few too many glasses of wine.
They were accompanied on the day by their partners as well as Claire's two dogs –13-week-old cocker spaniel Mabel and three-year-old Miniature Dacshund Minnie.
One runner with a heavy load on his shoulders was RAF serviceman Jason Rowell, from Claypole, who was running with a 40lb backpack on his back as part of his training for an ultramarathon next year. He finished in 2-31-28.
