Heartfelt plea to trace owner of lost photograph of smiling 'serviceman'
A woman who was handed this lost photograph is desperate to reunite it with its owner.
The black and white image, which appears to be a copy or a restored photograph, shows a smiling youthful man, possibly on his way to war.
The photograph was left in a shopping basket in the Newark branch of Wilkinson.
It was handed in to staff member Sally Bingham on Wednesday (April 1) between 1pm and 2pm.
The image is typical of those taken of servicemen through the ages after they finish their training and join up with their units.
The wing motif on his shirt appears to be air force.
When no-one came in to collect it, Sally asked the store for permission to take it home.
She uploaded it social media in an effort to find out who it belongs to, so far without success.
"The person who lost it must be devastated," Sally said.
"I know I would be.
"It touched my heart the moment the customer handed it to me.
"It's such a lovely photo and someone will be missing it.
"It's someone's grandfather, father, husband, brother.
"I just want to get it back to them so there's a happy ending."
The reasons the picture is probably a reproduction or has been restored is that the paper isn't particularly yellowed.
It has the stamp 'Kodak Extra Life Paper' on the back.
If you are the person who lost it or are somebody who can shed some light on who the man, contact Dan Churcher at the Advertiser on 07931 392009 to be put in touch with Sally.
