Hobbies and new friends are nurtured at Newark and District U3A
Are you ready for something new, to meet new friends, take up a hobby or share your own interests with others? If so, Newark and District U3A may be the answer.
Newark and District U3A is part of a national organisation for retired and semi-retired people who want to enjoy living life to the full.
‘Learn, Laugh, Live’ is the motto and a wide range of interest groups to suit all tastes is on offer.
There are around 40 to choose from, including archaeology, art, knit and natter, photography, Nordic walking, poetry, literature and book groups and if a particular interest group isn’t yet available, U3A will help a group get started.
You can join as many or as few groups as you want, all for an annual subscription of £12. This includes a monthly newsletter and quarterly magazine.
Monthly meet-ups with guest speakers are held and there is a weekly coffee morning group, although there are limitations during coronavirus
Several groups have continued to meet using Zoom, including the craft and chatter, Tai Chi, art appreciation, ballroom dancing and ukulele groups.
There’s also a group to teach computer literacy and a telephone buddy system for those not online.
